  Over the years Dr. Matsuura has helped me very ,very much. Yes he is a bit "Flip" but he is very straightforward and real . I always appreciate his honesty....

  Gave Dr. Matsuura a 5 star rating because he is cuts straight to the point. He is very clear in his explanations and is very experienced. Seems like other reviewers are impatient due to the wait. I suggest patients keep in mind that he is one of the few orthopedics in Hilo and he takes in new clients with/without referrals. He is doing Hilo a big service by taking in new clients and trying to accommodate to everyone's schedule. Sometimes that is not possible. His office is busy for a reason and we are not the only patients that need his attention. Other reviewers also do not appreciate that he is not one to "sugarcoat." What I like about Dr. Matsuura is he will tell you whether it is pain related or there is something going on with your joints/bones/etc. If he tells you it is pain related, then maybe you need to hear that you have a low pain tolerance. Not all things that hurt need surgery. Surgery isn't the best option for everyone, and a doctor with a lot of experience would know what is best. (I trust that he has seen a lot and has a lot of practice.) Overall, if you are looking for a doctor with a lot of experience, has contributed to the community, and a doctor that will be straight up and honest with you ... see doctor Matsuura. If you are looking for a doctor to baby you and take a lot of pity on you because you are sore and feel pain ... I suggest a pediatrician.
